About

Hanna

What would you say to someone who is very anxious about learning problems in school?

First I would explain the total normalcy of being anxious and that it shows that they care about the outcome and their success in school, which then reflects their concern for their self worth, and that that is very positive! Then I would explain that most (not all) anxiety comes from the unknown, which can be changed by learning all about their challenges. Lastly, I would explain that we have a whole toolbox to help them for what they struggle with, and that with our support and guidance they will be able to manage many of the challenges that worry them. They should feel better after that!

Why are you passionate about helping students with learning differences?

I was them and I didn't like let alone love myself for a VERY long time. The thought of children feeling that way about themselves feels crushing to me. I have such a deep love of children- they are my favorite people or favorite anything for that matter. They cannot advocate for themselves so I am here to empower them!

What gets you excited about Parallel?

The fact that Parallel advocates to such a degree about empowering learners to celebrate their different learning style thrills me. Parallel focuses on the strengths of our neurodiversity - and we do have many!
