Christen LaChance
I have worked in the special education sector for 7 years, as a teacher/case manager, IEP coach, and diagnostician. My primary professional experience is with students on the autism spectrum, ADHD, learning disabilities, and emotional-behavioral disorders. In my graduate work, I focused on social skills research for individuals with autism, and bettering practices in identifying learning disabilities in children from varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. In addition to working with neurodiverse children, I also have experience coaching families through the special education process by bridging the gap between schools, clinics, and the home. I am passionate about inclusive education and I believe every child should have equal opportunity to grow and learn.

About
Christen
I believe every person has strengths, and sometimes these strengths aren't highlighted in traditional environments. I love discovering the strengths in my evaluations as well as the weaknesses, because sometimes it can be so easy to focus on the weakness. All it takes is one person to see that special thing and it can change someone's life. The world is full of so many opportunities, and a learning difference shouldn't stop someone from reaching their full potential.
Outside of my work, I spend a lot of time spoiling my two dogs with long walks on trails and adventures at the park. They love to jump in the car and go anywhere I go. I'm the type of person that's equally excited about a night in with a blanket and a documentary as I am about traveling to new a place and experiencing new sights and cuisines - it's all about balance, right?
